David ReiterSummary:
Prior to establishing his own firm, David was Vice President and General Counsel for 724 Solutions Inc. (formerly Tantau Software, Inc.), an Austin-based software company that provides mobile commerce software solutions and applications. The Company is listed on both Nasdaq and the Toronto Stock Exchange (see www.724.com). In this position, David worked closely with management to ensure that project timelines were satisfied under budget, oftentimes in crisis management environments. David managed all legal matters related to company business, including all transactions, intellectual property matters, securities and corporate governance, corporate finance, litigation, labor and employment, customs & trade and international taxation. Prior to joining 724 Solutions, David was a senior counsel for Compaq Computer Corporation, supporting the Worldwide Sales & Services organization. His practice areas included technology and commercial transactions, intellectual property, international law, customs and trade, advertising and marketing law, and dispute resolution. Before joining Compaq, David worked in private practice in Los Angeles. David is the chair of the Subcommittee on Law Department Management of the ABA Business Law Section. David is an editor and author of Internet Law for the Business Lawyer. Published in November of 2001, this ABA publication is a quick reference guide for the general practitioner on a wide variety of Internet legal topics. David has previously sat on both the UETA and UCITA Advisory Committees to Texas Bar Association. He has also served as past chair of the Houston Bar Association International Law Committee and past chair of the ACCA International Law Committee, Houston Chapter. He is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences addressing issues in technology and commercial law. David is a graduate of the University of Southern California (J.D. ’93) and the University of Notre Dame (MA ’89). He also holds an MBA from the University of Sheffield, UK, a Master of International Relations from the University of Southern California, and is admitted to the Texas Bar.
