Full Bio:

R. Scott Luttrull began his legal career as an associate with the Dallas law firm of Godwin & Carlton, P.C. During these initial 4 years of practice, he gained valuable litigation and transactional experience representing large companies, financial institutions and governmental entities (including, for example, Dal-Tile, Guaranty National Bank, FDIC and RTC) in matters as diverse as lending transactions and subsequent collection actions and work-outs to toxic tort and employment litigation. At this early stage, Mr. Luttrull took hundreds of depositions and handled or participated in numerous court hearings, trials and alternative dispute resolutions.

Thereafter, Mr. Luttrull joined the Dallas firm of Quilling, Selander, Cummiskey and Lownds, P.C., where his practice shifted to handling bankruptcy, construction, real estate and title insurance matters, in addition to commercial and corporate transactions and litigation. The bankruptcy work included representation of trustees, creditors and debtors in various matters before the bankruptcy courts, and he was intimately involved in numerous construction matters, including the trial and appeal of a $50 million construction suit, during this period.

In 1999, Mr. Luttrull joined the firm of Looper, Reed & McGraw, P.C., also in Dallas, where he added health care, family law and insurance defense to his areas of practice experience, while continuing to handle commercial litigation, bankruptcy and financial institution issues for clients.

In 2001, Mr. Luttrull became General Counsel for Bright Truck Leasing, L.P. and Bright Transportation, L.P., headquartered in Garland, Texas, a position that he continues to hold. Bright Truck Leasing, L.P. is a regional transportation equipment rental, leasing and service company, and Bright Transportation, L.P. is a logistical services company, providing total-solution transportation and logistics services to customers nation-wide. In this position, he is responsible for all legal aspects of companies, including negotiating and drafting of leases and other agreements and transactional documents, employment and organizational issues, real estate, insurance and risk management, collection, litigation management and advising management on day to day legal issues. Mr. Luttrull was able to continue his outside legal practice with Looper, Reed & McGraw, P.C. in addition to performing his duties as General Counsel for the Bright entities.

In 2005, Mr. Luttrull moved his outside legal practice to Souter, Lipton & Luttrull, P.C. As a shareholder of this firm, Mr. Luttrull was able to concentrate his efforts on developing a full-service legal representation model for the firm’s clients, including, without limitation, handling all of the clients’ corporate and transactional matters, drafting leases, deeds and related real estate documents, preparing employment- related contracts, business agreements and organizational documentation. He also is able to advise corporate, health care and financial institution clients on internal and external issues, including labor/employment, risk management, organizational and transactional matters, and to handle and/or manage all of the clients’ litigation matters, including business and contract disputes, healthcare related issues, employment, collections and family law. This full-service practice model was a perfect fit for Phillips & Reiter, which Mr. Luttrull joined in early 2008.

Mr. Luttrull received his Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1991, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Texas Tech University in 1987. He is admitted to practice in the State of Texas, and licensed in the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
