Prior to Cliff Simpson, P.C., Mr. Simpson was
Managing Attorney, Intellectual Property and Licensing at Reliant Resources, Inc. for three years. In this position with one of the nation’s largest integrated merchant energy providers, he was responsible for overall management of the company’s intellectual property portfolio, legal review and approval of mass market advertising and communications, and technology licensing. While at Reliant Resources and its predecessor Reliant Energy Inc., he was also responsible for legal support of Internet and e-business ventures, including strategic alliances, investments, and licensing issues involving start-up ventures.
Prior to Reliant, Mr. Simpson was Group Counsel for the Consumer Products Group at Compaq Computer Corporation. In this position, he served as the primary legal counselor for Compaq’s $5 billion consumer PC division, including inbound and out-bound patent licensing programs, protection of intellectual property, joint development opportunities and alliance partnerships. While at Compaq, he also served as Division Counsel for the North America Sales and Marketing Division.
